Ricketts Brings Free Enterprise Record to Senate Service

Republican Pete Ricketts is running for his first full term in the U.S. Senate, having built a career that has taken his business experience to the Governor’s Office and now to the U.S. Senate.

Ricketts was the Nebraska governor from 2015 until 2023. Shortly after finishing his term, he was appointed to the Senate in January 2023 to complete the work of retiring Senator Ben Sasse. Prior to his public service, Ricketts founded Drakon, LLC, which invested in start-up businesses and entrepreneurs.

Over the years, Ricketts' has lowered taxes, improved government efficiency, and strengthened Nebraska's business environment. His campaign says that during his tenure as governor, $12.7 billion in tax reductions were achieved, including over $10 billion in property tax reductions, along with slower state spending growth.

Ricketts has taken the conservative record he built as Governor to his service in Washington, where he has delivered federal tax relief, including reducing taxes on Social Security and cutting taxes on tipped wages and overtime pay.

Throughout his public service, Ricketts has worked to protect Nebraska’s way of life and grow the state’s agricultural economy. As governor, he led trade missions to Japan, Vietnam, Germany, and other countries to improve market access for Nebraska’s farm and ranch families. During his short time in the Senate, Ricketts has quickly become the second-highest-ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where he has been a vocal critic of the Chinese Communist Party.

Ricketts’ message is clear: lower taxes, less government, and more opportunity for Nebraska businesses to grow. Endorsed by the Nebraska Farm Bureau, the Omaha Police Officer’s Association, and former Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman, Ricketts has rallied Nebraska support as he builds the case for his first full term representing Nebraska in Washington.
