Audi Selects Georgia for First Ever U.S. Manufacturing Plant

Last week, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced that the Peach State had recruited a new major employer. In a surprise announcement, German automaker Audi selected the state for its first United States-based manufacturing plant.
The $4 billion project will be built on the Middle Georgia Megasite in Peach County, bordering Houston and Bibb Counties, and the Governor’s office courted the site for about two years.
“Governor Kemp continues to demonstrate that private investment is the way to bring prosperity and job growth to our state,” said Jack Stanley Citizens for Free Enterprise Georgia Interim State Director.
The selected site was further promoted by the Mid-Georgia Gateway Joint Development Authority, a unified regional partnership between the three counties, founded in May 2026 to promote the megasite.
Audi’s plant construction is set to begin in 2027, with an expected completion date in 2031.
Once complete, the manufacturing plant is expected to create 4,500 high-paying jobs in the region. State Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson stating that employee pay in the plant will average more than $63,000 annually.
