CFFE Statement: Gov Kemp Takes Action To Reduce Consumer Costs

Citizens for Free Enterprise released the following updated statement in response to Governor Kemp's suspension of the state gas tax. The suspension of the state's 33-cent-per-gallon tax on gasoline and roughly 37-cent-per-gallon tax on diesel is expected to save taxpayers about $200 million each month.

“Governor Kemp is stepping up to address the impact of higher fuel costs on hardworking Georgians,” said Citizens for Free Enterprise Georgia State Director, Jack Stanley. “This is real relief for Georgians filling up at the pump, giving working families more room in their budgets. CFFE stands with Governor Kemp and appreciates his continued commitment to giving taxpayers relief when they need it most and keeping Georgia’s economy moving.”
